A day in September

I’m about to close up the computer for the day, and just thought I would spin out a quick entry.

I spoke with a good friend today. He was pretty emotional. He shared with me some troubles he is experiencing in his relationship with his wife. She wandered a little bit, and he called her on it. I listened, tried to be encouraging, and struggled to understand how this could happen to this great couple. Then I realized that all of us are close to the edge. I see it like a drive up the side of a mountain. There’s plenty of room for you to travel, but the edge is still there. For some reason, despite the more than adequate room away from the edge, many people still like to walk right along the edge. One wrong step, and it could lead to disaster. Some choose to walk along the edge, others of us are dragged there, and still others encounter things on the road that force them to the edge. We don’t want to walk there, but for some reason we must. I don’t like to walk to close to the edge, and so far in life, I haven’t had to.

For now, I’ll just keep watch. I’m looking for others, like my friend, that are walking close to the edge. I’ll try to be ready to pull them back to safety if there is a mis-step. J
